Do You Know from the Bible That You Have A Home In Heaven?

According to the Bible, God created man in His image and loves mankind deeply. However, because Adam ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, he became accountable for his sin for he was then sinning knowingly. This forced God's justice to condemn man to the punishment for knowingly sinning- eternity in the Lake of fire.

This knowledge of good and evil was passed down to Adam's descendants (you and me), and so we will each reach an age when we know good and evil and knowingly choose to do wrong. This causes us to be accountable for our sin, or if you will, makes us each "sinners".

Romans 3:10
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Because we have knowingly sinned against God (i.e. are sinners), we are accountable for our sin and deserving of the penalty for sinning against God knowingly.

Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

The just penalty for knowingly sinning against God is death. But the full penalty is not just death of the physical body but also an eternal death in the Lake of Fire.

Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Called the "second death", the Lake of Fire is a literal place of eternal torment and is the just punishment for knowingly sinning against God. As seen in the preceeding verse, it is not the quantity of sin or the severity of the sins we commit but rather the fact that we have sinned knowingly against God.

James 2:10
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Because we have knowingly sinned against God, His justice requires the punishment be given. But God loves us and does not want anyone to spend eternity in the Lake of Fire.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to
us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Because God loves us so much, He authorized an amazing plan to satisfy His justice and still allow for love and mercy to be extended. This plan required a perfect sacrifice to pay the price for our sin.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Of course that perfect sacrifice was Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Himself! Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life on earth, willingly offered that perfect life to die on Calvary for our sins, and then conquered death and Hell by rising again from the dead!

In so doing Jesus paid the penalty for our sins and suffered our punishment for us!

Isaiah 53:5
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Now that Jesus has paid our penalty for us, salvation is available to each of us. But God has given man a "free will" and will not force anyone to accept Christ's payment. Instead each of us must willfully choose for ourselves to either accept Christ's payment for our sins or spend eternity in the Lake of Fire to pay for our own sins.

If we want to accept God's amazing gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ the Bible tells us how.

Romans 10:9 &10
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

So if we realize we have knowingly sinned against God, and we recognize that we are deserving of eternity in the Lake of Fire as just punishment for our sin, but also understand that Jesus has paid that price for us on Calvary and rose again from the dead, then we simply must receive Him as our personal Savior. We do this by praying and accepting His grace while believing upon Him in our heart.

If you would like to accept Jesus as your personal Savior right now, simply pray a prayer something like this, believing on Him with all your heart.

Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I know I justly deserve eternity in Hell. However, I realize that you died on Calvary to pay the price for my sins and then rose again from the dead. Please forgive my sins. I am accepting your payment on my behalf and trusting you alone for forgiveness and eternal life. Amen.
